Patient Access Specialist
Pay: $21-23/hour
Location: Boston, MA
Hours: 40 hours/week, 7:30am-4pm
Requirements:
- HS diploma required
- 2 years of experience in medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology
- EMR experience, EPIC experience a plus
Position Overview:
- The Patient Access Representative performs functions that enhance patient access and increase revenue to the clinic.
- Advises patients regarding insurance coverage and financial obligations, completes registration and scheduling of patients in the automated registration /scheduling system, and collects payments.
Essential responsibilities:
- Review and update patient registration and demographic information.
- Verifies and scans insurance information at time of service to ensure appropriate and complete information has been obtained.
- obtain referral waiver forms when applicable.
- Collect co-payments and self-pay payments
- Acknowledges patients arriving to the department .
- Utilizes scheduling systems for many types of appointments.
- Entered managed care referrals.
- Provides general information to patients and visitors.
- Provides support for incoming an outgoing phone calls and work queue management.
